Staff Appreciation Week
Every year our PTO dedicates one week in April or May to celebrate and thank our wonderful staff for all they do to help mold our children. While there is a national Teacher Appreciation Day and Teacher Appreciation Week every year in early May, Gene Witt Elementary does not necessarily follow the same schedule. FSA testing dates and student concentration are a priority so we celebrate our staff when it will not be a distraction for our students.
Most teachers have a Room Parent to help guide and give suggestions to the other class parents regarding any specific daily themes, individual gift ideas, group gift ideas, collection of money or supplies, and possibly decorating teacher doors, if applicable.
For teachers who do not have a Room Parent, the following are possible ideas or websites for parents to visit for more ideas.
Daily Theme Ideas:
Monday - "You make me BLOOM" - Bring teacher her favorite flower (fresh, fake or hand drawn), or maybe something with a floral print
Tuesday - "My Teacher is a TREAT" - Bring teacher her favorite snack, beverage, or candy
Wednesday - "Thank you for making our year just WRITE” - Bring in pencils, pens, dry erase markers, or sharpies
Thursday - "My Teacher is NOTEWORTHY" - Have your child write teacher a note explaining why she is special
Friday - "Many thanks are in the CARDS" - Bring teacher a gift card to one of her favorite places such as Amazon, Target, DQ, McDonalds, Starbucks, or any other place she likes such as a nail salon
**All teachers and staff are given a "Favorite Things" form to fill out and return to their Room Parent at the beginning of the year. Once we receive the forms they will be available on our website.
