Gene Witt Volunteer Opportunities
Back to School Supply Kits - signs contract with supplier in the fall; beginning in the spring, coordinate between the supplier and teachers to create supply list for each grade; oversee orders; organize delivery prior to Back to School Night; ensure delivery of supplies
Spirit Gear - Work with PTO Board to provide new Gene Witt Spirit Wear; orders sizes, quantities, styles and prices for Back to School Night; create an order form; work with PTO Board to promote merchandise; oversee inventory throughout the year and order more as needed
Spirit Nights / Family Nights - Work with PTO Board to plan how many Spirit Nights and which dates conflict with other events; contacts local restaurants and businesses to set up dates and times for fundraiser nights; work with PTO board to promote each night in emails, on Facebook, on the website and printed flyers to go home with students; work with PTO treasurer to track profit
Home Room Parent Coordinator - Work with teachers to collect email addresses of the Room Parents; meet with Room Parents at the beginning of the year to explain their duties, offer advice, and answer any questions; provide access to sample letters, forms, sign-up sheets and the different online sites for class communication (available on the PTO website); guide Room Parents through teacher gifts, class parties, and the Spring Carnival
Monster Bash Trunk or Treat - Plan a fun evening for Witt families with a Halloween theme; committee will organize the trunk-or-treat, haunted house, food, activities, and bake sale
OTIS Spunkmeyer Fundraiser - Pass out prizes to students during the sale; collect and organize order forms and money with the committee; assist with the Reward Party; help distribute boxed items in the car rider line
Grandparent's Week - Work with the PTO to decorate tables; find a small token of appreciation for grandparents or grandparent-figures; attend the lunches over the three days to welcome guests as they wait for their grandchild(ren)
Santa's Workshop - Help students shop for the perfect gift; assist with checkout; stock tables as needed during the five day event held during school hours; chairperson may also need assistance with setup and teardown
Penny Wars - Decorate containers for each grade; create a poster explaining the rules; count the money each day; notify PTO of the leading grade each day; deliver popsicles to the winning grade
Father-Daughter Dance - Help the chairperson decorate for the dance; donate baked items; work the dance; help tear down the dance
Spring Carnival (choose an area of focus) - Organize the class game booths; organize raffle baskets and auction items; schedule entertainment; solicit vendors, sell tickets, schedule and organize high school volunteers; help setup the carnival; work the carnival; help tear down the carnival
Bingo Night - Work with PTO and Principal on a specific date; schedule event with decided location; arrange for prizes and food options
Donuts with Dad - Work with a local pastry shop and schedule order over three days; meet with PTO about decorations and coffee supplies; work with PTO regarding Tropicana donation; work the event or schedule volunteers to work the event before school starts
Muffins with Mom / Ice Cream with Mom - Schedule event at an offsite location or plan the event to be held at school; if held at school, work with PTO regarding details
Mother-Son Event - Work with PTO and Principal on a specific date; schedule event with decided location; arrange with location or provide snack or meal
